A day at ISIC(Indian Spinal Injury Centre)

Hi to all people today was one of the most eventful days of my life,I went to ISIC for training…
To all who don’t know wat ISIC is,lemme tell you…
It is a hospital which specializes in treatment and rehabilitation of spinal injuries and traumas,of any kind…
From head injury to nerve injuries, from multiple fractures to stroke, from hemiplegia to paraplegia every thing is taken a good care of here……
I as a physical therapy student went there for my clinical practice,in order to get a chance to go there and be a part of
India’s most sophisticated and complex upto date spinal injury centre and also the only one of its kind to have a hydrotherapy unit installed(it is used for exercising inside a pool)………
I was quite amazed by the fact that it was a state-of –art hospital, with an awsum physiotherapy and occupational therapy units….
Moving further, wen I say the patients it was something I never thot I would face in my life…
As of know I have rehabilitated people with stroke, cardiac and pulmonary patients, people with fracture cases, burns and sports injuries but wat I saw today was quite different…………
There were patients with road accidents, falls from a height, people with suicide cases, people with skull injuries.
There were many people of different age groups, from different races, caste, creed and it was so good to see they all being treated by doctors of different religions,no wonder India is referred as a “Secular State”…….
It was good to see doctors whoz religion was only their selfless services, for the first time I was proud of myself that I have chosen such a humble profession…
I felt like a human being,rather I felt complete today…
Moving onto wat I saw,the most unnerving thing which I saw ever saw in my life was today,I saw a little girl who was just about 8 yrs of age,and she was paraplegic which means(partial or total paralysis of all or part trunk and both lower extremities from lesions of the thoracic or lumbar spinal cord or sacral roots) as a layman it means that she can just move her head, wat a pity…..!!!!
She was just akid who had seen nothing in her life as of now,n such a drastic event in her life was very unnerving for me……
The most disheartening thing was the fact that wen I talked to hwr she wanted to grab my hand, but was unable to do it…….
As adults v know how to vent our frustrations but wat about a child……..????????
Who dsn’t evn have experienced the happiness yet,but has learned to live with his “Diffabilities”..
DIFFABILITY-(I never say that these people are Disable, but I say that these are Diffable i.e they are differently able)
The girl was so talented, she was as singer….at the age of 2 she started singing, can u believe dat????????’
And look wat turn destiny took for her…..!!!
May b its upto to the existence to decide, wat has written for whom….
wat I can do is just follow my duty towards Humanity……….
